- SINCE 1994 -
OUR STORY
In 1994 Patricia and the late David Bailey bought East West Agricultural Laboratory and offered agricultural soil testing. Services were expanded by offering testing services such as water, plant tissue, germinations and protein on grains. ASPAC proficiency and accreditation was gained for both plant and soil. The failing health of David led to the sale of the laboratory.
In 2007 the business changed hands, strategic plans were put in place and with a considerable amount of work the business was re-located, rebranded and revitalized. Participation in community was encouraged and memberships of industry networks formed.
The business website was launched the following year, field sampling and testing for groundwater were implemented and staff were encouraged to undergo training to fill the gaps. A full service of geotechnical, agricultural and environmental testing and analysis was the goal.
The business soon diversified into physical soil testing for sports fields, irrigated turf and cropping industries as well as contaminated soil investigation reports.
In 2010 we became a NATA registered lab with accreditation for chemical soil testing. We also developed services for Excavated Natural Material validation (ENM & VENM) reports as well as sampling and monitoring for environment protection licenses.
The Tamworth branch of Hunter Geotechnics (NATA accredited) was incorporated into the business in 2011. As a result, we now offered a range of geotechnical services for soils, aggregates and concrete along with geo sampling and consulting services.
From 2012 onwards the focus was to grow the business sustainably with the introduction of automation, reducing chemical consumption and increasing the range of services offered. The ongoing training of staff to upskill and expand our expertise was, and continues to be, a business priority.
2013 saw the consolidation of services offered. We rebranded as East West, and updated our website. A Laboratory Information Management System was introduced to improve turnarounds and reliability for our customers. We introduced testing under AS4419 for landscaping soils, AS4454 for compost, mulch and conditioners and AS3743 for potting mixes.
In November 2023, the ownership of East West Enviroag changed and is now proudly part of the 100% Australian owned and operated Geotechnical Services Group.
